Who doesn’t want to earn more money?
What would you do with an extra $500 a month?
Here’s a list of the top 5 things you could do in your spare time to bring in extra money each month. Each of the items on the list can be side jobs, but each one also has the potential to be a lot more than that. They can also be great ways to make ends meet if you’re between jobs.

1. START DRIVING FOR LYFT OR UBER
This is my number one tip for making a lot of extra cash. Driving for a rideshare service like Lyft or Uber can earn you up to $35/hour. Not bad money for getting to know your city and your neighbors! I’ve been driving for Lyft and Uber in San Francisco since early 2014 and I love it. It’s still a lot of fun to go out and talk to new people. You can set your own hours, drive when you want, stop when you feel like it. It’s the perfect side gig to add to your day job.
The barrier to entry is pretty low – as long as you pass a background check and you have a relatively new car in that’s in decent shape – then you’re just about guaranteed to get accepted as a driver. Both companies typically offer new drivers a signing bonus if they’ve been referred by a current driver – sign up now using my code and we’ll both make a few hundred dollars extra! Postmates is an on demand delivery service – you can basically order anything you want via their app or website and get it delivered to you. They are always hiring couriers. I do this part-time on my bike in San Francisco (some markets you must have a car – San Francisco you can make deliveries using just about any mode of transportation you want – walking, scooter, bike, car, skateboard, etc.). They are a really fast growing company and it’s a super fun way to make an extra $20-$25 an hour. Like Lyft and Uber you can set your own schedule so you can easily work around your day job and social life.
Use my referral code KWYC and get delivery credits to try the service out and see if it’s something you’d want to do.
3. RELAY RIDES
Relay Rides is like Airbnb for your car. You can rent your car when you don’t need it and earn a little extra money. I’ve used this service since 2014 and have made enough to cover a few car payments.
Got an extra room in your house? Going on vacation and don’t want your house to sit empty? Airbnb [http://web.archive.org/web/20150915083835/http://www.airbnb.com/c/chadc21?s=8] allows you to rent your entire home or just a room in your house. This can add up to a lot of money – I talked to a couple I was driving in a Lyft the other day who rent out their extra bedroom in SF using Airbnb. They charge $150/night… they told me that there room is consistently rented – they block out a couple of nights a month so they can have a little break. I did the math, that’s a lot of extra money each month!
5. LESSONS – COACHING – TUTORING
Chances are you’re really good at doing at least one thing. It could be your job or your hobby, but there’s at least one thing you do really well and could get paid to teach other people how to do it as good as you. I’ve played guitar since I was a kid. I’ve made a lot of extra money taking this skill and passing it on to others. It’s made me a few hundred dollars a month extra over the years. What skills do you have? What’s your hobby? You could teach a class at your local community center and bring in a little extra cash each month.
